BlackFada Reflects on Wizkid’s Father’s Flogging Comments: "Now, Everyone Wants Me to Succeed"

In a candid moment of reflection, RibsNPacks Republic CEO BlackFada responded to Wizkid's recent comments about being flogged by his father for pursuing music, sharing his own personal experiences of struggle and determination in the music industry.

Wizkid, one of Nigeria's biggest music exports, recently opened up about the challenges he faced early in his career, revealing that his father had discouraged him from making music and even physically punished him for pursuing his passion. The revelation has sparked widespread discussions about the sacrifices many artists make on their journey to success.

In response to Wizkid's comments, BlackFada shared his own story, shedding light on the personal hardships he endured before gaining recognition and respect within the industry. The RibsNPacks Republic boss disclosed that he, too, faced resistance from family members who didn’t initially understand his passion for music, with some even pushing him to abandon it.

"I can relate to Wizkid's story," BlackFada said. "When I was younger, it wasn’t always easy. Like Wizkid, I was told to drop music and focus on my studies. My own family didn’t understand it either, and at one point, it even became physical. I was pushed to conform to a 'traditional' path, but I stayed focused on my dreams. It was hard, and at times, I felt very alone in my pursuit."

BlackFada recalled the difficult years when his music ambitions were met with resistance, not just from his family but from societal expectations. "I was told to stop making music until I finished school, and there were times I thought it might not even be possible to keep going. But I knew deep down that music was my calling, and I couldn’t let go of that dream," he reflected.

However, BlackFada noted that times have changed. "Now, it’s different," he continued. "Everyone wants to see me succeed in this industry. The support I get now, from both family and the industry, is something I never imagined back then. It’s incredible how far things have come, and I’m grateful for every opportunity and every person who believed in me along the way."

The RibsNPacks Republic CEO emphasized how the music industry has evolved, not just for him, but for artists like Wizkid and many others who faced similar struggles. "Today, artists like Wizkid and myself are seen as role models for others who have dreams in music. We’ve paved the way for younger generations to follow their passions without fear of judgment or rejection," BlackFada said.

As BlackFada reflects on his journey from being discouraged to becoming an influential figure in the music and entertainment industry, he remains committed to supporting new talent and pushing the boundaries of creativity with RibsNPacks Republic.

"I'm here to tell the next generation of artists that no matter what challenges you face, keep going. Your dreams are valid," he concluded. "And just like Wizkid and I, you can make it no matter where you start."

BlackFada’s words resonate with many in the industry who understand that success often comes with adversity, and that overcoming these challenges is part of the journey. As the industry continues to change, artists like BlackFada and Wizkid serve as examples of resilience, determination, and the power of following one’s passion despite the odds.
